DJENINA HAGENBURGER
Born in Paris in 1974, my first great passion was Flamenco dance.
As a dancer with Raquel Gomez’s company Andanzas, I was drawn to this unique, off-beat world, always slightly on the margins, which resonated deeply with who I am. Through the uncompromising and rigorous beauty of Flamenco, I could express the intensity of my presence and the depth of my emotions.
In 2007, after leaving dance behind, I threw myself into painting with the same fervor and sense of total commitment.
In my work, I explore the theme of identity. I do not see identity as something fixed or rigid, which can only lead to rejection and the destruction of what does not conform. I explore it as a state of constant motion, where the boundaries between the outside and the inside gradually dissolve.
